A Messianic Jewish orphanage?

What’s a nice Messianic Jew doing in a place like this?! When Travis and Barbara Fisher, the founders of Haitian Christian Charities, first entered into congregation Mishkahn Dávid in 2007, their lives were forever changed. Ours too. Now elders, they have entrusted the care and Spiritual oversight of their orphanage into the congregation’s hands. The orphanage has since been renamed Beth Chesed ("Beth Chesed" is Hebrew for "House of Kindness"), as we follow the Messianic Vision given to us for the orphanage.

The plan that the Lord has given us is for the orphanage to become self-sufficient through working the land. But how, when Haiti is a dry, desolate and accursed land?

The Torah (the Biblical Books of Moses) speaks about how dry land yields much blessing. Adonai told the children of Israel, "If you keep My commandments, I will cause the land to produce fruit! I will cause the rain to come! I will keep the insects away! I have made the heavens and the earth, and I will command them to yield blessing for you!"

We believe that as the orphanage begins to keep the commandments pertaining to the land, our faithful G-d will keep His promise. We envision carrots the size of footballs! The Haitian government will have no choice but to inquire about how such blessing is coming out of this land. And we will tell them about the Lord! This is how one orphanage can change a nation!
